Qatar offers expats high salaries and great standard of living

09/03/24

Qatar ranks among the most affordable tax free countries to relocate to in 2024, according to a recently published study.

The report noted that the State of Qatar has a population of approximately three million while the average monthly salary in Qatar is one of the highest among tax free countries at QAR 15,750 (USD 4,327). In terms of flights, a one way economy ticket to Doha costs around QAR 1,300 (USD 356) from London and QAR 2,000 (USD 551) from New York. On average, the cost of family accommodation is around QAR 9,700 (USD 2,669). Furthermore, monthly utilities are very affordable at QAR 410 (USD 112). Further benefits depend upon individual employment contracts but expats can expect to receive perks including housing, transport allowances and private health care cover.

Moreover, the State is generally a very safe place to live if compared to other countries, considering the crime rate is extremely low. In terms of transport, many expats invest in their own cars due to convenience and extremely low fuel costs. However, taxis and ride applications are widely used as well as Doha Metro which is the country`s underground train network. It currently consists of three lines and connects most major areas of the City.

Most important to consider when relocating is healthcare. The States healthcare system, Hamad Medical Corporation is a not for profit provider which manages 12 hospitals as well as the National Ambulance Service. Alternatively, as mentioned above, expats often receive private health insurance through their employer, which allows use of private hospitals and clinics.
