Qatar`s esports industry is flourishing and is projected to achieve revenue of up to QAR 457.5 million (USD 125.7 million) in 2024 according to a recent report from Statista.

The online platform specialises in statistics, data gathering and visualisation and projects revenue will show an annual growth rate (CAGR 2024–2027) of 6.75%, resulting in a projected market volume of QAR 556.6 million (USD 152.9 million) by 2027. Furthermore, the number of esports users in the Qatar market is expected to exceed 436,000 by 2027.

Qatar Esports Federation (QESF) has been instrumental in fostering growth in the esports ecosystem. With government backing, the QESF has been actively organising tournaments, supporting local talent and collaborating with international e-sports organisations. The country’s robust infrastructure creates a conducive environment for esports driven by the increasing popularity of mobile gaming.

Most importantly, investment in state-of-the-art esports arenas and training centres is further confirming Qatar’s position as a regional esports hub as the State continues in its quest to diversify its economy. Consequently, the sectors predicted boom offers unprecedented opportunities for esports startups or SMEs to establish themselves in Qatars market and provide esports services and expertise.

Further Statista data noted that among the different segments of the e-sports market, the largest market in Qatar is mobile games, with a market volume of QAR 171.8 million (USD 47.2 million) in 2024. As a result, the average revenue per user (ARPU) in Qatar`s esports market is projected to reach QAR 1,176 (USD 323.2) in 2024. In 2022, the global esports industry was worth QAR 5.1 billion (USD 1.4 billion) and is projected to expand by 16.7% annually from 2022 to 2030.

In terms of competitors, Qatar is nurturing local talent and recently witnessed the QESF and esports production company ESB sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to launch a QAR 9.5 million (USD 2.6 million) combined prizepool Dota 2 league.
