Journey To Sweet Success

29/06/20

Journey To Sweet Success is the start of a series of inspirational events hosted by Business Startup Qatar. Basically, the concept is to provide a platform for relaxed networking built around a motivational business related experience. Everyone has a story to tell and during this series we plan on helping others and sharing our knowledge.

First Event The inaugural guest speaker was Mr Vito Cerabona. He is the General Manager and co-founder of Buono Qatar which is a luxury chocolates and flowers company established in 2010. Business Startup Qatar met Vito through the regular networking session we both attend.

Prior to establishing Buono, Vito was encouraged by his family to go to university and he qualified as a teacher. He moved to Qatar in 2007. Soon after arriving, he got to know an influential local family and was asked to prepare their Majlis for important events. At this time, Vito realised there was a gap in the market for an affordable luxury chocolate brand. Buonos first nut chocolates were brought into Qatar by hand and the company has not looked back since. What can you learn from Buonos journey?

Vito shared a number of lessons he learnt during his journey.

To succeed in business you need strong foundations and the right partnership
You need to be realistic about what you want to achieve and how you will get there
Are you going to give up? Be confident and give it a go – fear is a natural enemy for the human mind so rise above it and believe in yourself
Totally understand the country you are starting business in and fully embrace the journey
Never lose sight of who you are trying to serve
Surround yourself with the right people and be willing to give your time freely

After 10 years Buono has 5 branches in Qatar with another opening soon. Their corporate sales department has a large portfolio of confirmed agreements. These clients include The Mandarin Oriental, Marriott Marquis, Intercontinental Doha, Park Hyatt, Crowne Plaza and Al Muftah Jewellery.

Overall, Buono employs 72 members of staff from 9 countries. We have no doubt that Buono Chocolates will continue their successful journey and continue to achieve bigger and better things. Begin your Journey to success with Business Startup Qatar
